FINISH ENGINEER

  • As a Fluid Engineer specializing in paint/stain finishing operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and safety of our manufacturing processes. Responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of fluid systems, equipment, and processes within the paint and stain finishing department. Your expertise will drive improvements in productivity, product quality, and cost-effectiveness while adhering to industry regulations and safety standards.

PROFESSIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop fluid systems, including pumps, hoses, nozzles, and tanks, to optimize paint and stain application processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise in fluid dynamics and equipment selection.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and recommend innovative solutions to improve process efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize environmental impact.
  • Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs for fluid systems and equipment to ensure continuous operation and minimize downtime.
  • Perform regular inspections and troubleshooting of fluid systems to identify and resolve issues related to flow rate, pressure, temperature, and viscosity.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fluid handling processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Train production personnel on proper handling, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques for fluid systems and equipment.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality fluid handling equipment and negotiate favorable terms for procurement.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to fluid engineering in paint and stain finishing operations.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, leading projects to enhance process efficiency, quality, and safety.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stay up to date with product, industry, and software knowledge.
  • Cross-trained with Manufacturing roles.

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fluid engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment with paint/stain finishing operations.
  • Proficiency in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and process control principles.
  • Hands-on experience with fluid handling equipment, including pumps, valves, filters, and piping systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards related to fluid handling in manufacturing processes.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in design and implementation.
