Purchasing Agent- Cabinets

Department: Inside Operations & Manufacturing
Location: Houston, TX

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled, organized, and experience cabinet purchasing specialist to join our growing company. Support the procurement process by coordinating with suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring timely delivery of materials required for cabinet production. This role involves maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, identifying cost-effective purchasing opportunities, and collaborating closely with other departments such as production and design to meet project requirements and deadlines. Additionally, the purchasing assistant may be responsible for resolving any issues related to orders or deliveries, and continuously seeking ways to optimize the procurement process for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The Purchasing Agent duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Purchase supply of products/materials
  • Determine the lowest cost for products/materials
  • Analyze and manage supply base
  • Analyze market and delivery systems
  • Communicate performances and costs to management
  • Source and interview vendors; negotiate contracts and/or costs
  • Research and compare suppliers, goods, and services
  • Track and record orders
  • Receive orders and document arrivals
  • Recommend new processes or systems for improvement; implement new ideas and strategies for cost savings
  • Monitor inventory levels and determining purchase needs in order to organize and schedule procurements in a timely manner
  • Comply to scorecard measurement system to track values
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, customers, team members, and managers to align goals

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • High school degree/GED required
  • 1-2 years of previous experience in procurement or purchasing
  • Cabinet experience/knowledge required
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Software- Insight 2020 is a plus
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organization and documentation skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 25-30 pounds
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • 25% Travel to other locations, shows, mills, etc.

Working Conditions

The position will be mostly office work, but some time will be spent outside in the warehouse or in the plant looking at materials and working with other departments. Warehouse and plant are not climate controlled. The position will be day shift. Late hours and the occasional Saturday will be required.
